The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Isfahan of 80 × 120 cm. It covers approximately 0.96 m², or 2.6' × 3.9'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Materials and construction
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% silk foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
It is catalogued under red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
