Overview
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Isfahan of 107 × 160 cm. That is roughly 1.71 m² of floor, about 3.5' × 5.2'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
What it is made of
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% silk foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
