The piece in short
Origin Iran, format 112 × 68 cm — a Isfahan made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 0.76 m², or 3.7' × 2.2'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Construction
Pile material is given as wool, silk, warp as silk. Construction method: hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 2 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
