The piece in short
A Isfahan from Iran, measuring 145 × 222 cm. That is roughly 3.22 m² of floor, about 4.8' × 7.3'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Materials and construction
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% silk foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
