Overview
Origin Iran, format 227 × 150 cm — a Isfahan made entirely by hand. That is roughly 3.41 m² of floor, about 7.4' × 4.9'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Construction
Pile material is given as wool, silk, warp as silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as ap. 10 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as Weiß / beige. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
Age and condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. Being recent, the pile shows little wear and holds its full height.
