About this rug
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Isfahan of 83 × 118 cm. That is roughly 0.98 m² of floor, about 2.7' × 3.9'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, warp as 100% silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under multicolour. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
