The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Kashan of 420 × 298 cm. The covered area is about 12.52 m² (13.8' × 9.8').
Materials and construction
Construction: wool in the pile over a cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as approx. 50 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
