Hand-knotted from India: a Kashmir rug measuring 243 × 166 cm. Kashmir pieces are woven in northern India; the field is usually a close floral rather than an open ground. Pile 100% silk & warp 100% cotton. Silk both in the pile and through the foundation, so the whole rug catches light rather than only the pattern. The cotton foundation holds it flat and dimensionally stable. 4.03 m² suits a study or a foot-of-bed position. Proportion 1.46:1. This is the only example of this rug; when it is gone the size and drawing do not repeat.
