A red and orange Kashmir rug from India, hand-knotted, 276 × 179 cm. Kashmir looms work in the Persian idiom but in northern India, generally in silk or a silk-like fibre. Around 2.7 million knots went into this piece (500,000-599,999 knots/sqm) — a knot count that balances detail against durability. 100% silk (pile) & 100% cotton (warp). Silk both in the pile and through the foundation, so the whole rug catches light rather than only the pattern. The cotton foundation holds it flat and dimensionally stable. A mid-size piece at 4.94 m² — bedside, before a fireplace, or under a small table. Proportion 1.54:1. Every rug here is a single piece — there is no second one in this size and colour.
