Hand-knotted from India: a Kashmir rug measuring 307 × 245 cm. Kashmir pieces are woven in northern India; the field is usually a close floral rather than an open ground. The stated density is 500,000-599,999 knots/sqm; over 7.52 m² that is roughly 4.1 million knots, a solid workshop density. Pile 100% silk,, warp 100% cotton. Silk carries dye deeper than wool: the colours sit darker in shadow and brighter into the light. With 7.52 m² it covers the seating area without running to the walls. Proportion 1.25:1. This is the only example of this rug; when it is gone the size and drawing do not repeat.
