Hand-knotted from India: a Kashmir rug measuring 336 × 240 cm. Kashmir pieces are woven in northern India; the field is usually a close floral rather than an open ground. The stated density is 500,000-599,999 knots/sqm; over 8.06 m² that is roughly 4.4 million knots, a solid workshop density. 100% silk & 100% cotton. Silk both in the pile and through the foundation, so the whole rug catches light rather than only the pattern. The cotton foundation holds it flat and dimensionally stable. With 8.06 m² it covers the seating area without running to the walls. Proportion 1.4:1. This is the only example of this rug; when it is gone the size and drawing do not repeat.
