A hand-knotted Kashmir rug from India, 250 × 170 cm. The Kashmir tradition took Persian drawing north into India and kept the floral density. Silk pile on a Cotton warp. Silk both in the pile and through the foundation, so the whole rug catches light rather than only the pattern. The cotton foundation holds it flat and dimensionally stable. 4.25 m² suits a study or a foot-of-bed position. Proportion 1.47:1. This is the only example of this rug; when it is gone the size and drawing do not repeat.
