Overview
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Moud of 400 × 295 cm. That is roughly 11.8 m² of floor, about 13.1' × 9.7'. Moud rugs are known for their fine Herati pattern.
Materials and construction
Construction: wool, silk in the pile over a cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 35 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as Weiß / beige. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
Condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. Being recent, the pile shows little wear and holds its full height.
