The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 106 × 149 cm. It covers approximately 1.58 m², or 3.5' × 4.9'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
Construction: 100% new wool in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
