Overview
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 130 × 200 cm. That is roughly 2.6 m² of floor, about 4.3' × 6.6'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Pile material is given as 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, warp as 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
