The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 135 × 71 cm. It covers approximately 0.96 m², or 4.4' × 2.3'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Stated material: 100% cotton, 10% silk, Schurwolle mit Seide. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 6 mm.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
It is catalogued under multicolour. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
