The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 197 × 197 cm. The covered area is about 3.88 m² (6.5' × 6.5'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Construction: Handgesponnene Wolle in the pile over a cotton foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as ap. 7 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Age
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
