About this rug
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 209 × 311 cm. The covered area is about 6.5 m² (6.9' × 10.2'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
It is catalogued under red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
