Overview
A Nain from Iran, measuring 256 × 364 cm. It covers approximately 9.32 m², or 8.4' × 11.9'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
