The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 82 × 118 cm. It covers approximately 0.97 m², or 2.7' × 3.9'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Format and use
Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
