The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 83 × 135 cm. It covers approximately 1.12 m², or 2.7' × 4.4'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
What it is made of
Pile material is given as 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, warp as 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under Weiß / beige. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
