The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 84 × 219 cm. It covers approximately 1.84 m², or 2.8' × 7.2'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
Pile material is given as 100% new wool, warp as 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Size and placement
The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
