About this rug
A Nain from Iran, measuring 90 × 60 cm. It covers approximately 0.54 m², or 3' × 2'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
What it is made of
Stated material: 100% cotton, 100% wool, 10% silk. Construction method: hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 8 mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as multicolour. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
Age and condition
Stated condition: new.
