Overview
A Nain from Iran, measuring 128 × 199 cm. It covers approximately 2.55 m², or 4.2' × 6.5'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis, multicolour. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
