Lachak Toranj
Lachak Toranj is the classical Persian layout: toranj is the central medallion, lachak the quarter-medallions that answer it in the four corners. The arrangement is one of the oldest in Persian carpet design and it survives because it works – the eye is drawn to the centre, held there, then released along the diagonals to the corners. Everything else in the field is subordinate to that structure.
Red and blue
The classic pairing, and the reason it endures: red and blue sit opposite each other in warmth, so the medallion separates cleanly from the ground without either colour having to be lightened. On silk both stay saturated.
Placement and care
2.7 square metres suits a hall, a study or the foot of a bed. Avoid sustained direct sunlight, vacuum without a beater bar, and rotate occasionally.
