At a glance
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 213 × 314 cm. That is roughly 6.69 m² of floor, about 7' × 10.3'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
It is catalogued under blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
