Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 90 × 60 cm. That is roughly 0.54 m² of floor, about 3' × 2'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.
Materials and construction
Stated material: 10% silk, 100% cotton, 100% wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 8 mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
Period
Stated condition: new.
