Overview
A Oriental rug from Iran, measuring 220 × 160 cm. The covered area is about 3.52 m² (7.2' × 5.2').
Materials and construction
Pile material is given as wool, silk, warp as cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as ap. 10 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
Condition
Stated age: antique. As an antique piece, condition should be judged against its age.
