The piece in short
A Oriental rug from Iran, measuring 200 × 130 cm. The covered area is about 2.6 m² (6.6' × 4.3').
Construction
Construction: wool in the pile over a cotton foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under Braun / Gelb. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
Condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
