Overview
A Qom from Iran, measuring 156 × 104 cm. That is roughly 1.62 m² of floor, about 5.1' × 3.4'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Materials and construction
The pile is wool, on a warp of cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 2 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². This knot density balances pattern definition against hard-wearing construction.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as Weiß / beige. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
Age
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. Being recent, the pile shows little wear and holds its full height.
