Overview
Origin Iran, format 66 × 94 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 0.62 m² (2.2' × 3.1'). Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
Materials and construction
Construction: 100% silk in the pile over a 100% silk foundation. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Size and placement
A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
