Roughly 1.2 million knots tied by hand into 1.6 m² — a Qom rug from Iran, 152 × 105 cm. Qom lies south of Tehran; its workshops are the youngest of the great Persian centres and among the most disciplined. The stated density is 700,000-799,999 knots/sqm — a fine weave that keeps small motifs legible. Pile 100% silk &, warp 100% silk. A silk pile shifts tone as you move past it — the same field reads light from one side of the room and dark from the other. Small enough (152 × 105 cm) that the weave can be read from close up. Proportion 1.45:1. This is the only example of this rug; when it is gone the size and drawing do not repeat.
