Overview
This Qom comes from Iran and measures 292 × 390 cm. It covers approximately 11.39 m², or 9.6' × 12.8'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.
What it is made of
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
