Overview
A Sarouk from Iran, measuring 248 × 360 cm. It covers approximately 8.93 m², or 8.1' × 11.8'. Sarouk rugs are known for dense knotting and floral motifs.
Materials and construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
