About this rug
A Tabriz from India, measuring 200 × 246 cm. The covered area is about 4.92 m² (6.6' × 8.1'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 5-7mm.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
