Overview
A Tabriz from India, measuring 200 × 255 cm. It covers approximately 5.1 m², or 6.6' × 8.4'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
