About this rug
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 105 × 155 cm. It covers approximately 1.63 m², or 3.4' × 5.1'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. This size typically covers the floor in front of a seating group.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
