The piece in short
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 151 × 200 cm. That is roughly 3.02 m² of floor, about 5' × 6.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Construction: 100% Schurwolle mit Seide in the pile over a 100% silk foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.
Knot density and quality
The stated knot density is 1,000,000+ knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
On the colourway
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
