About this rug
Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 202 × 297 cm. That is roughly 6 m² of floor, about 6.6' × 9.7'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Pile material is given as 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, warp as 100% cotton. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as Braun / Gelb. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
