The piece in short
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 204 × 212 cm. The covered area is about 4.32 m² (6.7' × 7'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
The pile is 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, on a warp of 100% cotton. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Where it fits
The rug is square. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
On the colourway
The stated colourway is black and grey. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
