Overview

Origin Iran, format 300 × 200 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 6 m², or 9.8' × 6.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

What it is made of

Pile material is given as wool, warp as cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as ap. 18 kg.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

Colour and appearance

The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.

Condition

Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. Being recent, the pile shows little wear and holds its full height.
