Overview
Origin Iran, format 357 × 250 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 8.93 m² (11.7' × 8.2'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Construction: Handgesponnene Wolle in the pile over a cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted. Weight is given as ap. 30 kg.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.
Colour and appearance
The stated colourway is Braun / Gelb. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
Age and condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
