About this rug
Origin Iran, format 390 × 295 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. That is roughly 11.51 m² of floor, about 12.8' × 9.7'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
The pile is wool, on a warp of cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as ap. 35 kg.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. A large format for open-plan rooms or formal reception spaces.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
How it reads
It is catalogued under red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
Condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. Being recent, the pile shows little wear and holds its full height.
