Overview
Origin Iran, format 405 × 290 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 11.75 m² (13.3' × 9.5'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. Construction method: hand-knotted.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is under 200,000 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as Braun / Gelb. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
Age
Stated condition: made 1970–1979.
