Overview
Origin Iran, format 425 × 344 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 14.62 m² (13.9' × 11.3'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Materials and construction
The pile is wool, on a warp of cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. A large format for open-plan rooms or formal reception spaces.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under multicolour. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
Age and condition
Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. Being recent, the pile shows little wear and holds its full height.
