Overview
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 249 × 342 cm. That is roughly 8.52 m² of floor, about 8.2' × 11.2'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Construction: 100% new wool in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Size and placement
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
