At a glance
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 254 × 347 cm. It covers approximately 8.81 m², or 8.3' × 11.4'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
What it is made of
Construction: 100% new wool in the pile over a 100% cotton foundation. It is entirely hand-knotted.
Format and use
The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
Colour and appearance
It is catalogued under red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
