About this rug
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 255 × 362 cm. That is roughly 9.23 m² of floor, about 8.4' × 11.9'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
The pile is 100% new wool, on a warp of 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Size and placement
A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
How it reads
Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
