The piece in short
A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 79 × 293 cm. That is roughly 2.31 m² of floor, about 2.6' × 9.6'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Pile material is given as 100% Schurwolle mit Seide, warp as 100% cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.
Format and use
The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
