Overview
Origin Iran, format 85 × 75 cm — a Heriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 0.64 m² (2.8' × 2.5'). Heriz rugs usually carry a bold, angular central medallion.
Construction
Pile material is given as wool, warp as cotton. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Weight is given as approx. 4 kg.
Where it fits
The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.
On the knot count
The stated knot density is under 200,000 knots/m². This knot density balances pattern definition against hard-wearing construction.
On the colourway
It is catalogued under red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
Age and condition
Stated age: antique. In a rug of this age, patina and some pile loss belong to the picture.
